NAMI Montgomery County is a grassroots organization for families and consumers, dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults living with mental illnesses in Montgomery County, Maryland.

We provide self-help, support, education and advocacy.

Our Mission...

• Provide education and support for people with serious and persistent mental illnesses, their families and caregivers;
• Advocate for adequate health insurance, treatment, housing, rehabilitation and jobs;
• Combat the stigma of mental illness through community outreach and education.

What is mental illness?

Mental illnesses are biologically based brain disorders that can profoundly disrupt a person’s ability to think, feel, and relate to their environment and others.
